Bundaleer wines

Graham Spurling established a vineyard in an old orchard with the help of his old school friend, Des Meaney, in 1998, and produced his first wine using a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet grapes they had grown with his daughter, winemaker Angela Meaney. I was briefed to design the label for this first wine, 2001 Shiraz. The pine cone brandmark was inspired by the tall pines of the Bundaleer Forest, located in the Southern Flinders Ranges region of South Australia. I commissioned Swedish artist Cecelia Gunnarsson to illustrate the label. The colour scheme reflects the earthy reddish tones of the iron-rich earth that make this region unique. The two hands represent the two families who worked together on the vines, with the pines in the background.
