NortherN & Yorke
Resources management Board

My brief was to design a suite of documents, including a broadsheet for distribution to 40,000 regional South Australian households in remote rural areas. I was asked to develop a new brand for the new broadsheet, the air of the publications was to share information with landholders about environment care and sustainability.

I set up and developed consistent typographic styles for the Yakka broadsheet and other communication items. My role also involved briefing photographers and ongoing communication with the chief writer, suppliers, design and production management of various printed items.

Part of the job was to co-ordinate the delivery of the Yakka newspaper across a vast rural and remote outback region, some of which did not even have letterboxes!

The yearly NYNRM calendar was a popular item for farmers, who looked forward to receiving it for Christmas. This contained useful reminders for attending to pest-control, watering and weeding. The original information was supplied to me as a series of Excel spreadsheets, and required much thought and experimentation as to how to develop an aesthetic and readable format, while fitting it all in.
